Experience
For the past eight years I have provided Geotechnical Engineering designs for a variety of residential, commercial, highways and rail projects. I specialise in solutions using modern construction methods with precast concrete products, geosynthetics, soil nails and ground anchors, both for temporary and permanent works applications. With my recent experience at Geofirma this has expanded to include deep foundations, embedded retaining walls, raft foundations and settlement assessments.
I have managed all stages of the design process, from developing options reports and concept solutions through to formal design and obtaining TAS approval and Geotechnical Certification, and providing solutions for unforeseen construction stage issues like hazardous excavations or space conflicts. I have also undertaken a range of remedial designs for both existing reinforced earth structures and traditional reinforced concrete and masonry retaining walls, including on-site inspection. My design experience has also included sites in Estonia and Norway in addition to domestic projects across the whole of the UK and Ireland.
I have managed and supervised junior staff in completing design work, maintained client relationships over multiple projects and successfully overseen the preconstruction stage for a range of complex geotechnical structures.
Other Work
In addition to design work, I have advised on the development of earthworks products with Gillcon, Persimmon Homes, Retaining UK and Stabilisure. In April 2023 I presented a talk on the importance of collaboration between engineers and manufacturers when working with prefabricated earthworks products at Day 2 of the Redi-Rock Conference in Belfast.
