Remediation of basement retaining wall
Soil nailing
Remediation
Retaining wall
Underperforming concrete mix meant that the RC basement wall at
was expected to be demolished and rebuilt. Stabilisure proposed to avoid reconstruction by reinforcing the retained material with small diameter percussively driven soil nails, however evaluating the reduction in internal stresses in the wall required a non-standard approach to the design. I was able to deliver the design to support the proposed remediation approach by using my prior experience with soil nailing projects and programming skills, and demonstrated the reduced internal stresses were within the strength of the concrete mix within a tight timeframe to avoid further delays to the works.
